Error message

the accretion store reached a ceiling (%s)

In the message, %s marks a value that the engine fills in when it raises the error.

The story

The accretion store is full, and it is telling you so out loud. Here is how it works. Labels and versions live in an arena, a block of memory whose size is the one declared capacity, set by ceiling.arena_bytes in hrs.feml. The old invented limits, thirty-two labels and a hundred twenty-eight versions, are gone. Now there is one honest number. When that arena cannot hold one more label or version, the write is refused. And the engine will not make room by throwing something away, because the entire law of this store is that nothing ever leaves a history. If it evicted the oldest version to fit a new one, it would keep answering every read, but from a history missing its beginning, and quietly wrong is the worst kind of wrong. Think of a ledger that tears out old pages when it runs out of space: the books still balance, but they no longer tell the truth. The message gives detail on what hit the ceiling. If the problem is the number of beings instead, that is a different refusal, RX0027, which comes from the substrate. To keep writing, raise the arena capacity.
